    Door within a Door Problem

One of the primary features for purchase was showcase fridge door. Floor models’ showcase door worked perfectly (in multiple stores). Our showcase door hasn’t worked correctly since day it’s been delivered. Issue is a give/lag between the two doors. Now 1 yr & 2 mns and still working w/ furniture store, 3rd party repair svc and ext. warranty provider. Repairman noted in his 9 years of experience, Samsung’s door-within-a-door has never worked properly. Samsung – you should permanently fix this door issue or provide customers w/ a new fridge that works properly and stop selling new fridges w/ doors that don’t work. Other people have had these issues as well; just search for “samsung showcase fridge door issues”.

This refrigerator is beautiful, but it is a total waste of money

Bought this refrigerator 1 1/2 years ago, July 2016, a little over a year later the ice machine froze up. I thought it was just because we were out of town and wasn’t using it enough. Thawed it all out, pushed the reset button and within a few months it did it again. It’s a monthly occurrence now until today when it quit working completely. Went online and read reviews, apparently the ice maker is a design flaw and everyone has problems with it. Samsung should then extend the warranty on it if they know that. The reality is, the freezer below is too small to keep anything in it, the condiment shelves on the door are too small to keep anything in it, and it doesn’t have as much room as one would think. This beast cost us a fortune, took a year to pay for it, and now it’s practically useless to us. I am so very disappointed in this fridge. Will never buy a samsung refrigerator again.

    Poor Performance

I do not know if the people who purchased this refrigerator have the extended warranty, or had it more than one year. After my first two years with this refrigerator, I have had nothing but problem. However, the problems started right after my warranty expire. I had/have freezing in my ice maker, fan motor going out, and/or now what looks like my compressor. I purchased this refrigerator based on the capacity and the rating that it received in 2015, and now I see that it’s still be rated an 82. However, if you google Samsung refrigerator errors, you would see that there are several consumer venting their dissatisfaction of this particular product, and if you read what they are saying they all state that they would NOT RECOMMEND Samsung refrigerator to a friend, or even any enemy. I have been having problems and I have come to conclusion, that I will put this refrigerator out for recycle and purchase anything but a Samsung refrigerator.

Don’t Buy If You Want Ice

We were very happy with this fridge. It worked fine the first 2 years then we started getting frost build up in the icemaker. Next when you put your glass under the dispenser for ice you would get a bath as melted ice ran out the flap door.
After looking online I saw this was a common problem. I defrosted the icemaker and it worked for a few days then same issue again. After several defrost it stop making ice all together. If I hit the reset button it will dump ice then will chime a few minutes later and stop working. So apparently if I want ice I have to hit the reset button each time to get it to dump. Really Samsung? I should not be having this issue with a fridge that is less than 4 years old. This is a design defect that is affecting lots of consumers. Samsung should recall the icemaker and make it right.
I will definitely avoid Samsung appliances in the future. I think they need to stick to electronics.

    Not happy

My samsung refrigerator 1st started having problems with the ice machine not defrosting and now the refrigerator won’t cool and behind the cover inside the refrigerator it is freezing up and stopping the fan. And have had it for 3 years or so. Found out what was going on by going online seeing videos. And seeing that i was having the same problem so its seems to be a problem.

And since they won’t stand behind their product, I will never buy Samsung AGAIN!

    INFERIOR (BUT VERY EXPENSIVE) PRODUCT

I refused delivery of the first refrigerator after I tested the door-in-door feature and couldn’t get the outer door to open by itself at all unless I pried the doors apart with my hands. You’re supposed to push a button that releases it from the inner door, but the doors weren’t separating from each other at all. I had to wait another week for a replacement, which is only slightly better. The front panel will *sometimes* release from the inner panel, but not before bringing the inner panel halfway along with it before the inner one slams back into place. I’ve had this refrigerator three days now and not once has the outer panel opened properly. Additionally, the multi-purpose bars (metal divider/support bars) in the tray inserts in the door won’t move (they’re supposed to be adjustable); the water from the water dispenser is room temperature, not chilled; and they put the 2”x 4” bright white sticker with the serial number on the *exterior* of the refrigerator instead of the interior of the door, so it’s glaringly obvious, ugly and annoying. To add insult to injury, their repair service gives a NINE HOUR WINDOW. They expect you to set aside an entire day (and be docked pay or take a vacation day from work) waiting around for them to come fix their inferior product. I’ll never buy another Samsung.

Major Ice Maker Issues – Fridge Was Replaced

I purchased this refrigerator in April 2016 and the extended warranty company decided to give me store credit to pick the brand and model of my choosing in August 2018 because the ice maker kept breaking down and they had spent more than half of the refrigerator’s value in attempting to fix the ice maker. First there was ice formation around the internal ice bin, which stopped ice production because Samsung did not seal the unit properly (per technician). Next problem was that it would not produce ice. Several technicians and five visits later (and taking off from work), and pretty much the entire ice unit replaced, still no ice production. We purchased this expensive unit to specifically to have ice and water in the door, so very disappointed to hear from the technicians Samsung has issues with its ice makers. No issues in other areas, but you expect the ice maker to work in a relatively expensive refrigerator.

    ICE MAKER IS A NIGHTMARE!!

We bought the frig for several reasons, looks, ice maker/water in door, the “outside” door that opens separately, bottom drawer. We were very happy for the first year, (biggest complaint at the time was how slow the ice comes out & cubed ice would come out with mixed crushed), but other than that everything was great. For the last year & 1/2 we have had to blow dry the ice maker 2x per month because off all of the ice build up on the outside of the ice maker. It would get so bad it would stop making ice all together! We did not purchase the extended warranty at Home Depot because I had recently lost my job and we were having to put this on the store credit card. The current refrigerator we had at the time broke.
Today we finally had to call a repair man, an authorized Samsung dealer, to come take a look at it because not only was the build up worse than normal, BUT the frig was now running much warmer than normal. We were informed that the ice maker is a VERY COMMON issue with this refrigerator. Because the issue was so bad, the coils in the back of the refrigerator had so much ice build up on them the back panel of the fridge cracked and caused the fan to stop working on the compressor. The fan was replace ($250) and he “repaired the crack” with some plumbers putty he had (because to replace this would be $700). He happened to have the putty because he repaired THE EXACT SAME THING ON THE EXACT SAME MODEL last week for someone else!!!
Nothing about this is OKAY for a 3 year old expensive refrigerator! 3 YEARS is the life expectancy for a refrigerator these days??? Not OKAY! There should absolutely be a RECALL on this model!

pass on it, read google reviews

Don’t have anything to say negative about the appearance, but mine is under 3 years old, ice maker is constantly frozen, frig side requires manual defrosting and service. Once my repair costs out weigh my patience, I will take it outside and turn it into a meat smoker. As stated, I’ve owned this for less than 36 months, service has been here 3 times and I have to do what repairs I can. AND I PAID FOR THIS EXPERIENCE?

Not recommended if you have wood floors

We purchased this fridge 4 years ago. We love the look, the beverage door but were very disappointed when we began to have ice maker issues 2 years in. We initially would have issues with the ice maker freezing up and the cheese tray would then begin to collect water. With time it has only worsened, now the entire area under the cheese tray fills with water, so much so I can splash, it then begins leaking in to the freezer drawer and on to our new wood floors. Needless to say, we are less than pleased. Fortunately we’ve been home when this has happened and able to clean up quickly but there us still evidence of our floor swelling and we’re afraid to go out of town. I’ll have to find a sitter for our fridge. Extremely dissatisfied. Love my TV and phone but never again will I recommend or buy Samsung appliances

    Nothing but Problems

We bought this fridge in 2014 and it has been nothing but a headache. It’s more than just problems with the icemaker – the inner guts of the fridge easily get covered with ice. This causes all kinds of very loud noises and after a certain amount of time, the temperature regulator will not work right. Appliance repairmen have to take everything apart and de-ice it. Then it works fine for awhile —until the ice builds up again. Apparently there is no fix for this as it keeps happening over and over. As one positive, I do really like the design of the door-in-a-door. I have looked at other fridges out there and so far no one makes one like this.

    Absolute lemon.

We’ve had this refrigerator a little over two years and would not recommend to anyone. The original unit had to be replaced within 6 weeks of purchase when the ice maker froze up. Since then the ice maker has been worked on several times (latest today) and we are completely dissatisfied with this product. In addition to the ice maker problems, the stainless steel has discolored and stained.

Do your homework before buying a Samsung Refrig

Samsung makes a nice looking refrigerator, but I wish they spent a lot more effort on the working parts. PLEASE do your homework on Samsung refrigerators before buying, search the web for the problems with their ice makers, the problems with the defrost cycle, and handles that fail easily. Just so you know, when the freezer door handle breaks, you have to buy the front door because you cannot get the plastic piece that always fails. Ask a Samsung repair man, it is actually cheaper to replace the door for $250 and do it yourself. (there are only 4 screws that hold the entire door on.)
The ice maker has a flaw in the design that they have not been able to correct. There is a recall on some models, but it is a temporary fix. The real problem is the failure in the defrost system. Somewhere from 6 to 18 months you will start to hear a noise in the refrigerator section. This is where ice has built up on the evaporator coil and the fan is hitting the ice. Eventually the ice will stop the fan from spinning and you have to take the refrigerator apart to melt the ice. Search Youtube videos, there are numerous ones out there. I have learned that using a hair dryer and about 2 hours of time, NEVER use full heat on the hair dryer, buys about 1 month at a time. But you do not have to pull all your food out of the refrig, remove the shelves and then remove the inside panel to get to the evaporator coil.

Looks great, but lacks in performance

I bought this fridge about 2.5 years ago after doing quite a bit of research on new refrigerators and this one had everything that I was looking for. It looked great and had all of the features that I needed. Performed well for a few months and then the ice maker starts blocking up and needs to get cleared regularly. Started out once a month or so, and now I am up to at least once a week. Support keeps telling me to reset the ice maker, but that doesn’t work. Be cautious about buying this particular model, it’s highly unlikely that I will buy another Samsung refrigerator.

    Horrible refrigerator

I’ve had this refrigerator for about 2 years, and the ice maker freezes up and stops working constantly. At first it was every 6 months, then every 3 months, now it’s every 6 weeks. Every time it freezes up, I have to defrost the fridge, and reset the ice maker, an enormous inconvenience. Now it is out of warranty and I have to pay for service to get it looked at. I bought all Samsung appliances when I remodeled my kitchen 2 years ago, I will NEVER buy Samsung appliances again.
